Block Plane Charts
Below are two charts documenting just about all of Stanley’s block planes. The first chart organizes them by adjustment mechanism and family. The second chart is sorted by length. Dimensions are in inches and are approximate, as Stanley’s production varied slightly. I assembled these charts a few years ago, but still seem to occasionally find a typographical error. Please let me know if anything jumps out at you. I’ve included a couple of footnotes at the bottom of the page.

Notes:
The Excelsior body style was in production until 1989 and was a feature of all sizes in both the 9-1/2 series and 18 series of planes
Handi-Grip indentations were introduced 1898
#60 pre-1914 types have 1 1/2″ width iron. 1898-1902 (Type 1) does not have an adjustable throat.
#65 pre-1913 types came with the Hooded Lever Cap found on the 9-1/2 and 60 Series. 1898-1905 (Type 1) does not have an adjustable throat.
